Next-Generation Opto-Semiconductor Technologies with Improved Light Efficiency Unveiled
Interactive Exhibit Featuring 20 μm Devices Highlights the Evolution from LEDs to Opto-Semiconductors
Seoul Viosys, a global opto-semiconductor device company, announced that it is participating in K-Display 2026, held at COEX in Seoul from July 22 to 24, where it is showcasing next-generation opto-semiconductor technologies and has received the Honor Award.
Seoul Viosys has established a joint booth with Seoul Semiconductor to present next-generation opto-semiconductor technologies for applications including MicroLED displays, data communications, automotive systems, and lighting.
The exhibition illustrates how LEDs, once primarily used for lighting, are evolving into opto-semiconductors that support technologies such as MicroLED, augmented reality (AR), transparent displays, sensing, and optical communications. Throughout the booth, the companies are also showcasing light-efficiency enhancement technologies designed to improve efficiency during the generation and emission of light.
An interactive experience zone allows visitors to closely examine hundreds of thousands of 20 μm opto-semiconductor devices—too small to be easily distinguished with the naked eye—contained in a small transparent bottle.

At the MicroLED section, the companies are demonstrating a MicroLED signage display featuring WICOP, an ultra-compact, high-efficiency opto-semiconductor technology, and WICOP Pixel, which integrates RGB devices into a single pixel. With a fine pixel pitch of less than 1.0 mm, the display delivers an almost seamless viewing experience even at distances of less than one meter.
The display section also unveiled RGB backlight technology for the first time. Designed to improve color purity and light efficiency, the technology attracted significant attention from visitors on the opening day.
A Seoul Viosys representative said, “Receiving the Honor Award recognizes our contribution to sustainability and innovation in display technology. As a global materials, components, and equipment technology company, we will use this exhibition to demonstrate the competitiveness of our core opto-semiconductor technologies and contribute to innovation and a stronger display industry ecosystem in Korea.”
